STUS Update
Good Afternoon,
I want to catch each of you up on what occurred this weekend at the mock meet with regards to Computers.
There were a multitude of issues that all added up to an inconsistent Mock meet with STUS and Computers.
As for the mock meet this weekend the biggest issue to bite us was a service that STUS pays to the hosting company. He pays for Backups of his server from the hosting company. More importantly is that he does not control when the backups kick off. Well the backup started at 8am EST which took all the resources from the server and allocated them to the Full Back up. So, with very limited resources left STUS was trying to run 94 meets at the same time and all went south from there. Rich with STUS was able to get in touch with the hosting company but a higher-level person was only able to turn it off. The Backup was turned off right before noon our time and then the server was rebooted. Once that happened we were not experiencing issues from then going forward.
In working with Rich he is working on redundancy and other server modifications to help the computers run more efficiently.
Rich will be adding today 6 more front end web servers to communicate with the data base. We will be assigning the teams in the league to a web server so we can spread the load evenly among the league. This should help with the running of the system going forward.
Rich and STUS will have 2 programmers available on Thursday for the computer exchange and on Saturday all day during the running of our meets. This will be done like this for the rest of the season.
We know the issues were not good but we are working to make things better for this weekend and the rest of the season.
A testing plan will be emailed to computer groups shortly.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thank you
